The wonderful thing about Willersley Castle being situated on the edge of the rolling hills of the Peaks is there’s plenty of places to go walking.
Here are our top three…
1. Lathkill Dale, nr. Bakewell
With a pub and tearoom en route, this is the perfect place to dust off the walking boots and go for a Derbyshire amble! You can do a circuit on this walk which takes you uphill, back down and along a path by the side of the River Lathkill where there’s a beautiful waterfall.

2. Thorpe Cloud – nr. Dovedale
For fans of steep inclines, this is the walk for you. Thorpe Cloud is between the villages of Thorpe and Ilam and has an elevation of 287m. After your walk, you can head to Dovedale stepping stones which is popular with people of all ages.

3. Wolfscote Dale
Situated down the road from Hartington, this walk includes a pathway which runs along the River Dove. It has wonderful limestone scenery and a cave too. It’s a flatter walk so good for anyone who doesn’t want to take on all the challenges the Derbyshire peaks have to offer.
