Welcome to Willersley Castle Hotel

A magnificent Grade II* listed building, built for the great industrialist, Sir Richard Arkwright, at the end of the 18th century.

The hotel overlooks the River Derwent on the edge of the Peak District National Park in the county of Derbyshire. It also forms part of the UNESCO Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, alongside the historic village of Cromford, a village preserved from the time of the Industrial Revolution.

Set in 60 acres of private grounds and with its own swimming pool, there is so much for guests to enjoy in the stately surroundings of Willersley Castle Hotel.

A series of hotel activity and interest breaks makes Willerlsey Castle the perfect location to relax, recharge the batteries or try something new. Venture out, and the natural playground of the Peak District awaits, with its walks, cycle trails, rock climbing and caving.

There is also an abundance of attractive market towns – including the spa town of Matlock Bath on the hotel’s doorstep – and historic houses to explore; including Chatsworth, one of England’s finest country houses, just a short drive away.

The Hotel

With its rich industrial heritage and impressive architecture, Willersley Castle Hotel is full of character and charm.

Many original 18th century features remain, including the famous Well Gallery and Adam fireplaces in several reception rooms. The hotel has 30 bedrooms in the Castle and 14 bedrooms in the Mews block, situated 100 metres away from the main building. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and tea and coffee making facilities.

On the ground floor guests will find the drawing room and lounges perfect for relaxing with a book, the music room with its impressive dimensions and wonderful views out to the Derwent valley below, and the dining room serving a Full English buffet style breakfast, lunch and a table d’hote evening menu.

There is on-site parking, and full use of the leisure facilities for guests, including a heated indoor swimming pool located in the Leisure Club in the beautiful gardens behind the main building.

The grounds feature a putting green, an area for ball games and a rose garden to enjoy as well as acres of woodland and riverside walks for picnics, strolls and the tranquil surroundings of the countryside.
